Our shared dessert was our major disappointment. Bread pudding ($6) though nicely garnished with whipped cream was dense and gelatinous. A bourbon sauce might have helped.
Playing the central roles of gay buddies Hunter and Jeff, Heverling and Pierce show us why the two men balance each other so well. Hunter’s optimistic and cuddly qualities complement Jeff’s more reserved, analytical approach to the project. As Hunter, Heverling energizes the crowd with the flamboyancy of his role, often pacing around the stage spewing quick jokes and queer culture references while he jots down each sentence on his writing pad. Pierce portrays Jeff as a man who stays collected amidst the craziness—and stays anal-retentive about correcting everyone else’s grammar.
Many coaches believe the benefits of reclassifying outweigh the risks. If it results in better scholarship offers and more options, it’s tough to fault a parent for doing what’s best for a child.
The Pumas have had success running the ball during this four-game winning streak, but Preston Jones was quick to note the five turnovers his team has committed in the past two weeks (both victories). Basha still has questions defensively, but the offense might be better with wide receiver Nate Phillips, quarterback Zach Werlinger and running back Rajhan Meriwether. Jones said this week that all three of those kids are better than a year ago, and that Werlinger might be even better than his predecessor, Kyle Duran.
Geri KinsleySpecial to ReviewDonn and Kyra Pease of Paulden are model train enthusiasts, and their home was one of the places others who love model trains visited after the annual "Beat the Heat Swap Meet" at the Prescott Activity Center Aug. 17. Presented by the Central Arizona Model Railroad Club, the swap meet featured tours of six members' homes to view their model railroad layouts. Donn Pease is building an HO Scale layout representing part of the former Southern Pacific Railroad through Southern Arizona, set in the 1950s and 1960s. Locomotives of the late steam and early diesel era pull freight and passenger trains of the same vintage. The layout represents several towns in Southern Arizona, such as Red Rock, Tucson, and Benson."The layout is complete enough to run trains over the entire area,www.qwedf.com, which fills the basement. Scenery is in the beginning stages, so that the town of Red Rock is almost complete and most of the rest of the layout is partially done or just starting," said Pease. Several model railroaders and visitors, along with others in the greater Prescott area who attended the swap meet visited the layout, including a bus load of about 40 people from Phoenix who travel up from the valley every year for the swap meet and open houses.
